My Tribe

TRIBE is we. noun | \’trīb\ a social division in a traditional society consisting of families or communities linked by social, economic, religious, or blood ties, with a common culture and dialect, typically having a recognized leader.

This is the definition of tribe, for me it is a group of 7 other woman who are always there for me. We connect with each other on so many different levels, but each one has special place in my heart. We share a love of family, community, fashion, adventure and travel. The last one is what this post is about.

Our love of travel goes back about 10 years, starting with a 4 day trip to Cancun. On this trip, 3 of us went and learned a lot about each other beyond you kids (which is how we met). That trip has lead to several more trips and the addition of 5 others to our traveling sisterhood. We have done weekend end trips to cabin, destinations within the U.S. to 10 day European adventures.

We each have a role in the tribe that really makes these trip purr along like a well oiled machine. One is the money manager, one is the travel guru, finding us cool out of the way experiences, one is the crazy one that drags us out for the one last drink, one keeps us from becoming directional challenged and the rest of us, just tell us what to do or who to call and its done.

For example on our last adventure we locked our keys in our rental car. Even tho we were miles from the nearest “big” city we got it done. 5 people calling rental car company, AAA, park rangers, and onStar. While the others begged a local vendor to sell us his last beers and seltzers, well because we were going to be there for awhile. Honestly, this is one of my favorite travel memory, no one was mad, no one got blamed, we all laughed and just plain had fun.

We have started a couple of traditions for each of our trips: 1- we always get matching jammies. 2-we have matching Minnesota flannels that will always get photographed in the most instagramable spots. And, 3-someone needs to make a photo book of our all our pictures.

Memories made together last a lifetime.
